German watchmaking, although focused on relatively small area of Glashütte, offers quite a varied range of timepieces with one mutual value – in-house.

The luxury brand Cartier equals beautiful jewellery and – what many seem to forget – excellent watchmaking workmanship in both its intricate and basic versions, as proven by Calibre de Cartier.

In a small picturesque village of Glashütte in the east of Germany, mechanical watches of the highest timekeeping workmanship are made – such as the Grand Lange 1, which we have just put to a test.

After last year’s trip to Switzerland this time we travel to visit the capital of German watchmaking – Glashütte in Saxony.
