Watch of The Year 2019 – 10th anniversary(!)

Although scarcely believable, our CH24.PL Watch of The Year comes to its 10^th edition. Since full decade we highlight and award best watch debuts of passing months. Time to keep up with the tradition – here is our Watch of The Year 2019.

I have absolutely zero idea where did this year’s summer holiday go, summer is almost over and we can already see our annual “best watch-related gifts” guide come to life. Time flies as the old saying goes, especially when you use it wisely and to the fullest. We barely noticed it, but seems like our most important event in the calendar – Watch of The Year – closes a chapter in history of our magazine. CH24.PL is 10 years old, and it is precisely from a decade that we try to honor what watchmaking industry has best to offer. Already the 2010 WOTY set some ground rules. Our jury consist of internationally renowned experts (full 2019 list can be viewed HERE) and Polish authorities in the field. The utmost goal of WOTY was and is to highlight watch-making quality, design, innovations and people that create those little, mechanical objects we all love. 9 previous WOTY gave us 9 Grand Prix winners. Hand-made golden statuettes went to Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore Diver, Patek Philippe Ref.5208P, Jaeger-LeCoultre Duometre Spherotourbillon, A. Lange & Söhne Grand Complication, A. Lange & Söhne Richard Lange Perpetual Calendar Terraluna, Vacheron Constantin Harmony Chronograph, Grönefeld 1941 Remontoire, Singer Reimagined Track 1 and A. Lange & Söhne Triple Split. We welcomed representatives of the winning brands in Warsaw, but perhaps the greatest award was when we spotted our statuettes in their manufactures or at SIHH or Basel.

Among the Special Jury Prize we honored watchmaking figures like Nicolas G. Hayek, Francois-Paul Journe, Jean-Claude Biver, Maximilian Büsser (MB&F), Walter Lange and Edouard Meylan. All of them wrote a chapter in the WOTY history. Its 10^th episode will conclude on October 17^th in Warsaw.
